As a Master’s Degree graduate in Clinical Counseling with Trauma Studies, I am a passionate Clinical Therapist with 7+ years of experience in the mental health field. My work involves connecting with and counseling a diverse group of individuals in communities of color implementing goals and interventions, as it relates to well-being, emotional/mental wellness, and healthy living. Utilizing a client-centered approach, with tools derived from CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based practices, my desire is to not only create a safe space, but to help the individual see themselves as healed while on the journey to becoming whole.

I emphasize connection with your true self because that is where all answers lie. I am a conduit supporting you on that journey. This happens through self-awareness, disrupting old behavior patterns, and creating healthy replacement behaviors. I believe some essential elements of the healing process are: allowing ourselves to feel the original pain, forgiveness of self and others, reframing our narrative, and changing behaviors.

The best way to describe my practice is eclectic. In the field we say “start where the client is” I feel that I take this to heart. Our clients come from all walks of life and it’s my job to go there as opposed to asking them to come to where I am. I also believe that being eclectic allows me to reach a wide variety of individuals in all age groups, ethnic backgrounds, religious belief systems, etc.

Hello! My name is Sydnee Jacques, and I am a Master’s Level Clinician currently seeking licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use an eclectic approach pulling from various theories/practices. However, the majority of my style stems from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe it is extremely important to first help my clients raise awareness around their thoughts and feelings, then provide psychoeducation on evidence-based research and interventions to support them, and implement those strategies into their daily lives to successfully change their thoughts and behaviors. For those seeking help, I offer a comprehensive evaluation and a goal-oriented personal treatment plan in an empathic and compassionate environment. Let’s get to work and embark on this therapeutic journey together!

I have been in the field of social work for over 25 years. Providing knowledge based therapeutic interventions with kindness, consideration and a healthy dose of reality, is what makes my practice unique. We will work together to achieve the goals you have set; we may even set and reach new goals you once thought were unattainable. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
